“Mishkat” Launches its Newest Film “Last Drop”
Mishkat Interactive Center (one of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy initiatives) has launched its newest educational film “Last Drop” yesterday at the center in Riyadh city.
On that regard, the supervisor of public relations and media, Abdulaziz Alzeer spoke about the main objectives of the film “Last Drop”; which revolves around spreading awareness of water saving and the challenges that Saudi Arabia faces in the desalination process, also introducing the periods of time where humanity have faced difficulties in fresh water production through the ages until now. Moreover, he elaborated that the idea of the film is about the over waste of oil in water desalination and how that pollutes the environment unlike other sustainable sources of energy such as solar energy which is environment-friendly, this goes with Vision 2030 of having several concepts of modern technology in the future to rely on in energy production.
“Last Drop” is one of the films produced by Mishkat Interactive Center staff; its focus is about the role of queen Zubaidah – wife of Haroon Arrasheed –in the water canals for the pilgrims. Historians have named her efforts “Zubaidah route” where she issued orders of digging wells and watering basins that reach a length of about 1600 km and its remnant are still present to this day.
The event included many scientific programs and activities such as; the science tour around the center, science exhibits and workshops. In addition to the main project that was the shaping of Zubaidah route in a way that attracted visitors where their numbers have hit 760 visitors. It is worth mentioning that Mishkat Interactive Center opens its doors for free to host school groups throughout the year, and visitors numbers have recorded about 150 thousand visitor since its’ launch in 2012.
