Mishkat Celebrated International Children’s Day with the World Last Week
On November 20, 2019, Mishkat Interactive Center, “one initiative of King Abdullah’s City for Atomic Energy and Renewable,” celebrated the International Children’s Day in partnership with the Faal Vitiligo Charity Society, which aims to revitalize the role of the concerned children and integrate them into the society.
The celebration of the International Children’s Day aims to support the recommendation of the United Nations General Assembly, for that day to be a day of fraternization and understanding among children around the world, to fight against violence, negligence of children and exploiting them in hard labor beyond their capacity. In addition to raising awareness of children’s rights, their privileges of human rights, full and equal participation in society and the advantages to be derived from motivating and educating youngsters in every aspect of life that benefits them and their societies.
It is worth mentioning that the United Nations General Assembly in 1954 supported all countries to celebrate the international Children’s Day by the resolution providing for the approval of a number of children’s rights: The right to live, the right of education, the right to play, the right of health care, a dignified family life, freedom of speech, and the right of protection. The Association also called on countries to consider it a day dedicated to child-welfare activities and to promote understanding among children around the world.
November 20 of each year marks the day the General Assembly adopted the Declaration of Children’s Rights in 1959, the Convention of Children’s Rights in 1989, and the 19th of the same month coincide to be “Child’s Protection Day”.
