Under The Slogan “Science, a Human Right” Mishkat Interactive Center Celebrated the International Science Center and Science Museum Day
Mishkat Interactive Center, One of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy Initiatives, celebrated the International Science Center and Science Museum Day this evening with its’ visitors under the slogan “Science, a Human Right” at its location in Riyadh.
The event Director, Mr. Abdulaziz Afifi, has stated that the event was held for the third consecutive year in cooperation with the UNESCO for an international development and sustainability and with the International Council of Science Museums and Science Centers. Mishkat interactive Center was the only science center participating from Saudi Arabia as it achieved eight of the 17 objectives set by UNESCO for sustainable development. Moreover, UNESCO has invited science centers and exhibitions around the world to support any of these objectives.
The event director also emphasized that this event is to celebrate this great achievement with the visitors, and that it targets members of all ages to experience learning through educational demonstrations and workshops, take a scientific tour through which they learn about the sources of atomic and renewable energy, its’ generation and benefits in our daily lives, and attend a series of educational films in the panoramic hall.
He also pointed out that Mishkat hosted a group of female Saudi inventors and researchers in this event to support them and their research as their inventions are directly linked to the sustainable development. Moreover, Mishkat aimed to introduce those inventors’ project to the visitors, acknowledge these inventions, encourage them and motivate all those who have will to innovate.
The event specifically hosted six inventors whose projects won international awards, one of which is the inventor Hadil Abdullah AlHarbi who presented her project (The Intelligent Medicine Distributor) to the visitors, which was a mobile and home device that organizes and distributes medicine and assist patients in taking their pills on time. Another inventor, Arwa Karim, presented her project, which was a water dispenser add-on device to benefit from the wasted water by turning its’ path through pipes into a filter to be of use again. Furthermore, the student Haya Saud AlMudaihem explained her invention (The Safe Charger), which is a metal piece added to the charger that slides when the device is fully charged to unplug it, another student, Omaima Saleh AlDubian,
