Mishkat is an initiative of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy

Mishkat is an initiative of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE). Created by royal decree in April 2010, K.A.CARE was established to enable a sustainable energy future for the Kingdom. To power this innovation, the Kingdom needs the youth of Saudi Arabia to be ambitious, skilled and knowledgeable contributors, actively shaping a bright future for our Kingdom.

Mishkat was designed, built and opened in under fourteen months. Developed by practitioners in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, and Holland, a global community of scientists and researchers shaped the content. All team members were handpicked through a rigorous selection process and the team were trained at the Science Museum in London and Techniquest in Cardiff. Departments and individuals have been mentored by a global network of world-leading science centers and museums and an industry colleagues, including the Exploratorium, Science Museum, New York Hall of Science and the experienced consultants at KCA London.

Our science center is open every day during the school semester for booked student groups. It is also a hub for family days, festivals, teacher training and after school clubs. We run science shows and workshops in local schools and national festivals and foster a lively online community. We have also established ourselves on the international stage, presenting at conferences, publishing in journals, and establishing relationships with science and discovery centers that are mutually beneficial.

Mishkat has developed a vibrant culture for inspiration. It is committed to delivering life enhancing experiences for all visitors and continually striving for excellence
